Dr. Marc Faber

Dr. Marc Faber publishes a widely read investment newsletter, the Gloom Boom & Doom Report and is the author of several books, including Tomorrow’s Gold – Asia’s Age of Discovery.

Between 1970 and 1978, Dr. Faber worked for White Weld & Company Limited in New York, Zurich and Hong Kong. From 1978 to February 1990, he was the Managing Director of Drexel Burnham Lambert (HK) Ltd. In June 1990, he set up his own business, Marc Faber Limited, an investment advisor and fund manager.

A regular speaker at various investment seminars, Dr Faber is well known for his contrarian investment approach.

He holds a PhD in Economics, magna cum laude, from the University of Zurich.

Couldip Lala

Couldip Basanta Lala is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a past Chairman of the Mauritius Stock Exchange Commission and has sat on high-powered government enquiries/committees. Couldip was until 1993 an executive partner of the local representative firm of Arthur Andersen. He was responsible for all practice support and development, covering training, technical developments, marketing support and strategic planning. He is the lead author of "The IFS Guide to Mauritian Company Law". He is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a director of SBI International (Mauritius) Limited, an offshore bank, subsidiary of State Bank of India.

Dev Joory

Kapil Dev Joory is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Dev was until 1993 a Senior Tax Executive at Ernst & Young, London office, and previously worked for Touche Ross and Price Waterhouse Tax and Audit Departments. He has over 30 years of post-qualification experience in international tax planning and business structuring. His area of specialization includes international banking and financial services including Islamic banking, offshore fund structuring, intellectual and real property planning, franchising and retail operations.

Rubina Toorawa

Rubina Toorawa is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BSc with honours from the University of Manchester. Rubina has more than ten years of experience in investment fund structuring and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. She previously spent eleven years at PWC and KPMG, where she focused on a range of sectors including financial services, textiles and tourism.

Patrick Carpenter

Patrick Carpenter, M.B.E., manages portfolios for private investors in the US and other markets. He previously held a senior position in the Private Office of John Swire & Sons, where he oversaw human relations policies for the group’s 60,000 employees. His prior experience includes Drexel Burnham Lambert, Marc Faber Limited and 25 years of military service.

He has served on numerous boards in the private and public sector, including Hong Kong’s Labour Advisory Board and the Hong Kong Hospital Board, of which he was Chairman. Patrick is fluent in Hindi, Urdu and Gurkhali.
