The IITs are the premier technical institutes of India, acclaimed for their science-based inter-disciplinary curriculum. Studying at a competitive institute like IIT Bhubaneswar, Abhas developed strong analytical abilities. Apart from engineering, Abhas took courses in spent time in other areas such as economics, statistics, mathematics, marketing and management. This broad perspective gave him the opportunity and interest to work in a range of fields.
Abhas took up an internship at Hilti headquarters in Liechtenstein during 2011 summers. This was the first time Abhas stepped out of the country and gave him the exposure to live in a new place and work in a new environment. His time at Liechtenstein also gave him the opportunity to travel extensively. Further, Abhas also took up projects at STUP Consultants and ACC in Mumbai in 2010 and 2009 respectively.
After graduating from IIT Bhubaneswar, Abhas joined Thornton Tomasetti where he worked on structural design, analysis and detailing of structures in many of the firm’s live projects around the world. He explored the field of seismic analysis of structures in detail. That said, Abhas’s interest in data analysis persisted and he wanted a platform to put his quantitative and analytical skills to good use.
This brought him to India Capital Research where Abhas is an Information Analyst. At ICR, Abhas helps the research team by conducting primary research, collecting data to analyze historical financials, collating relevant data, and creating investment memos. Outside of work, Abhas enjoys visiting new places, music and photography.
